“Push me, and then just bleep me, till I can get my DADA Life! Yes folks! We are craving to be the citizens of the Dada land; where there are no rules, but the rules of Dada” – with this kind of hilariously wicked sense of humor and a crazy performance style, the Swedish DJ duo Dada Life has created a unique and exciting style of doing electronic dance music, which has gained an enormous amount of popularity among its fans.

In 2006, DJs & producers Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom teamed up in Stockholm to create the DJ duo Dada Life. The duo wasted no time to catch the people’s attention with their apparently ridiculous introductory slogans such as “Boss don’t cry” and “Never bring your brain to rave”. They have jumped from #89 in 2010 to #24 within the next two years; in the annual list of 100 most popular DJ’s by the DJ Magazine; thanks to their out of the box performances and over the top attitude. Currently, they are ranked 36 in the official DJ ranking list. The weird name ‘Dada Life’ came from a combination of the “Life” bit sounds and the duo’s inspiration of the 20’s avant-garde art movement (Dada).

The Dada Life has released their first single “The Great Fashonista Swindle” from Pickadoll in 2006 which contained a Sex Pistols parody artwork. Later, the duo built up their signature with the next two singles “The Great Smorgasbord” and “Do the Dada”. Since then, the duo has released around 30 non charting singles that includes popular choices like “Just Bleep Me (Satisfaction)”, “Rolling Stones T-Shirts”, “Born to Rage”, etc. In 2011, the Dada Life released the hit single “Kick out the Epic Motherf*&cker” under their own record label So Much Dada. The duo has also released the Sausage Fattener – a computer audio plug-in and has remixed many pop hits. Their most popular remixes are “Dynasty” and “Llove” by Kaskade featuring Haley, “Prutataaa” by Afrojack & R3hab and “Big Bad Wolf” by Duck Sauce. The impressive list of remixes includes many popular pop artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Chickenfoot, etc.

The duo has released five albums so far, including the extended and fan remix albums. Their debut album Just Do the Dada came in 2009 under the label Hussle. The albums contained compositions like “Fun Fun Fun” and “Let’s get bleeped tonight” which reached the top chart in Belgium. After releasing an extended version of the first album in 2010, the Dada Life released their most popular album The Rules of Dada in 2012. The album sporting their current banana-champagne logo for the first time, created an immediate storm and soon reached #1 in the Dance charts of iTunes. The Rules of Dada also entered the top 10 in the US and top 20 in Canada. Their latest album Born to Rage released in 2014 is a compilation of their best remixes.

The first tour of one of the most popular DJ duo came in 2009, just after the release of their debut album. They roamed around Europe with their Kinetic live shows and weird inflatables flying over the shows. They declared that the backstage has to be filled with Bananas and Champagne or they would punish the set with music played at or under 188 BPM, successfully grabbing them the headlines. The bananas and champagne trend continued afterwards, as they have reportedly used around 8,000 lbs of Bananas and 3,000 bottles of Champagne in their greatest North American tour The Rules of Dada, entertaining more than 100,000 fans in Canada and US in 2012. Their lives shows has gained so much popularity that it often becomes a struggle to accommodate all the fans. In fact, the duo had to cancel their Los Angeles show in 2010 and the Miami show in 2013, due to the riot caused by the huge amount of disappointed fans who showed up to miss out on the tickets.

The Dada Life is no stranger to making headlines with their exceptional presentations and funky activities in and out of the set. They rocked the Electric Daisy Carnival 2011 in Los Angeles by performing their song “White Noise / Red Meat” with a full marching band. In March’2013, the DJ duo created a huge controversy declaring their compound event territory a nation. They even went on to apply for the UN recognition of their self-birthed nation called Dada Land. The act irritated the Swedish authority so much that eventually led to their visa seize in the Swedish airport. The duo is also suspected by many bloggers to be involved in Dada Death, a publicity stunt in all mainstream social media that threatened to release some unreleased tracks, including the single “Tonight We’re Kids Again” which was briefly released in the Sound Cloud as part of the threat.

Despite being unsuccessful in their attempt to get UN recognition, in 2014, the Dada Life has inaugurated a live show named Dada Land: The Voyage in Canada, which was attended by over 10,000 fans. The duo has continued to use the name ever since and declared the Dada Land Compound tour for 2015 to be held all over the United States.

On March 06, 2015; the Dada Life is coming to dance with California, with their Dada Land Compound tour in San Jose State University, San Jose, CA. Like the duo say, “if you don’t think you can follow them (the Dada rules), this is your last chance to change your mind now”. So, dancers, book your ticket now as it is time to get ugly soon!
