Rob Swire and Gareth McGillan began their duo, Knife Party, as a side project in 2011. The two artists were already in a drum and bass band called Pendulum. Both men are Australian, and they began working together in 2002. In 2011, they released a track on SoundCloud simply entitled “Not Pendulum.” Soon both Swire and McGillan realized that they should be devoting themselves to this new project, which is exactly what they proceeded to do. They have released all of their albums digitally, and currently work with the labels Big Beat and Earstorm. In 2014, Knife Party’s long awaited new album was leaked by iTunes, and has subsequently received positive feedback.
