HARD Day of the Dead 2014

October 4th, 2014
HARD is a music festival brand founded by Gary Richards in 2007, and it has become one of the biggest names in live EDM. HARD organizes many events taking place all over the world. They have their Halloween-themed HARD Day of the Dead, the HARD Summer concert, and the Holy Ship! cruise. There are going to be two unique fests on the high seas in 2015.
Line-ups are alternative and electronic music acts, and the festival promotes emerging talents. HARD Music Festival number one was in December 31, 2007 in Downtown Los Angeles and it was amazing. Headliners at that show were Justice, Peaches and 2 Live Crew. Now HARD has grown in leaps and bounds and organizes HARD Summer Music Festival and HARD Haunted Mansion.
August was the release date of the location and lineup for the popular HARD Day of the Dead show for electronic dance music fans. It’s a bit after Halloween but still close enough to be spooky. The two-day festal takes place at the Fairplex in Pomona, California on November 1st and 2nd. Knife Party, a live set from Pretty Lights and Diplo will perform on Saturday. Don’t’ miss Calvin Harris, Zedd and Bassnectar playing on the stage Sunday. There will be so many others that you may or may not know.
Grab your friends and line-up for RL Grime, who has his very own stage at this year’s HARD Day of the Dead. RL Grime will be on the grounds on Sunday, November 2 with Cashmere Cat, Sophie and Ape Drums. RL Grime, a producer from LA, might just play his new mix Reminder a collaboration with How to Dress Well. It just debuted on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 Show. His debut album, Void will come out in November – maybe just in time for HARD Day of the Dead.
Something you definitely don’t want to miss – dirtybird’s BBQ series finale at HARD day of the Dead. Dirtybird will take over a dedicated stage on November 2nd and bring along their house music and family vibes. Grillson will be onsite throwing around his classic dirtybird BBQ recipes. In March, dirtybird released Okay from the # 1 house record on Beatport. One of dirtybird’s unique inspirations (someone you will recognize) will join them on stage. If you miss out, you will be sad.
Just announced! Coming to HARD Day of the Dead is Gesaffelstien & Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (don’t these DJ names just send shivers up and down your back?) Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom, (only 25!) better known as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is from London, England. He is an electronic music producer, DJ and singer. He is totally into music from being a classically trained musician to an EDM DJ extraordinaire. He and his crew dress up like dinosaurs and carry on. Don’t be fooled by the costuming; he is totally the real thing. Hopefully, he will play Paris from Little Dragon.
Gesaffelstein or Mike Levy, a French techno artist and DJ, will be featured at HARD Day of the Dead. He works alongside Tiga, Miss Kittin, ASAP Rocky and Lana Del Rey. Two tracks on Yeezus, an album by Kanye West, includes the lead single Black Skinhead and Send it Up are Gesaffelsteins. In 2013 Gesaffelstein released his album, ALEPH. Listen to his remix Shockwave on the 2013 video game Grand Theft Auto V. Gesaffelstein (a combination of the German word for aesthetics and Einstein) claims he is a normal, boring person, but he has an ideological purity and artistic needs to transcend boundaries. He may seem a bit on the arrogant side, but his music is his passion.
Important: Rules and Safety
Just like all EDM festivals, HARD Day of the Dead has its limits. If you are under 18, don’t ask to get into the festival. You will be IDd. If you get HARD festival tickets as a gift, please have photocopies of the purchaser’s credit card and their government ID. Do black out the first eight digits of the credit card for your security.
Many fans want to be a part of HARD Day of the dead, but no volunteer workers are accepted. HARD Day is a specialty event and everyone who works here must be properly trained. ATMs are available for your convenience and if you get hungry, visit the vendors who cater to vegans and vegetarians, as well as meat eaters.
HARD organizers want everyone to be comfortable and happy. Wear comfortable shoes bring a jacket and drink water all the time to avoid dehydration. Light sensitive people might want to note that strobe lights are used in all shows. The sounds will be loud so you may want to stand at a comfortable distance if you are sound sensitive. Remember that this is an electric dance music festival. It will be loud and wild.
Everyone comes to HARD Day of the Dead to join with the energy and electricity in the air. Dance all you want, but don’t be obnoxious. Avoid sitting on dance floor areas, this could get dangerous, and no moshing, crowd surfing or stage diving. HARD organizers want you to be logical and mature so leave your large chains or spiked jewelry at the gate. Take care not to bring weapons of any type and forget your vapor cigarettes. HARD knows you want to make friends and spread around PLUR, but don’t bring your kandi to this festival. Security will take it away, and you will be embarrassed.
So down with the negative and up with the positive. Bring your cell phones in and wear whatever kooky hat you want. You can chew gum but do be considerate. Earplugs might be a must and fanny packs are cool. Bring in your non-professional flash and still cameras. Oh, don’t forget your sunglasses if you are joining the festivities in the bright SoCal sunshine, and you might want to wear sunscreen.
Bring your good vibes and leave all negativity at the gate. Jive to the music, join in the fun and be safe 🙂
